United
States Pre-1880-Geographical Factors
Learn
about physical and cultural geography and things they influenced.
Physical
and Cultural Geography
Physical and cultural geography have a lot to do with shaping
events in the United States. For example, culture had a lot
to do with the settlement of the colonies. Many people cam
to the United States to be able to keep their beliefs and
stay alive keeping them. Some countries persecuted people
for being a certain religion. So these people would come to
the United States.
Physical
Geography and Wars
There were many physical geographic obstacles during the American
Revolution and Civil War. People had to cross rivers, hike
over the Appalachian Mountains, and travel through forests,
among other things. They also had to face harsh climate changes,
such as the battles in the north being icy and snowy while
the battles in the South being hot and humid.
Cultural
Geography and Wars
Cultural geography also influenced the Revolutionary and Civil
Wars. The Revolutionary War was started because the people
of the United States wanted independence. They had immigrated
to the United States because of their culture, so in a way
one of the things that started the war was that. The Civil
War was influenced by culture because it was mainly about
having slaves and if it would be good or bad for the culture.
