United
States Post-1880-Urbanization
Learn
about United States urbanization.
Going
to Amusement Parks
Amusement
parks developed in the United States in the late 1880's. They
had food, games, and rides just like most today. People would
come there from all over the country, enjoy themselves tremendously,
and tell everyone they know about their great times. People
would be thouroughly intrigued by this "Amusement Park"
and decide that they need to go there also to investigate
it. This would happen over and over again until virtually
the whole country had heard about or gone to them.
Growing
Amusement Parks
So
amusement parks grew and grew. More people kept coming and
coming; some, for thier second or third time, others, for
their first. Eventually people who had traveled often to go
there and fell madly in love with the amusement parks and
moved there to prevent from traveling so much every time they
wanted to go. Orlando, Florida is a perfect example of this.
Amusement
Parks Changing
But
coming there time after time to the same exact things, can
be boring. And the people who went there got bored with the
save old rides, games, and food. In order to ensure they had
customers for their parks, the amusement park owners had to
change their parks.
Moving
to Amusement Parks
But
as this was all happening, amusement parks kept springing
up everywhere to urbanize, or to bring people to another place
because of something they want, other parts of the country.
The amusement park owners also needed people to work at the
parks. So along with people coming to visit the parks, you
had people moving there to get a job. But all those people
getting a job at an amusement park needed clothes, food, electricity,
and many other things, so you had to make supermarkets and
clothing shops and so on. All of this created more jobs.
Important
Urbanization Factor
So
as you can see, amusement parks and like organizations have
played an important role in the urbanization of the America
we know today.
