Learn about historical events before the Renaissance.

Many Renaissance Dates
There were many historical events since the Renaissance that have shaped cultures throughout the world. Some of them are:

1607- The first succesful English colony in America is founded at Jamestown.
1620- The first English colony in Massachusetts is founded at Plymouth by settlers from the ship, Mayflower.
1650- The slave trade begins to spread inland from the coastal regions of West Africa.
1695-China establishescontrol over Mongolia.
1769- James Watt inventsa better steam engine.
1776- The U.S. Declaration of Independece is signed.

1783- The Treaty of Paris recognizes the U.S
1822- The U.S founds Liberia in West Africa, as a colony for freed slaves.
1829- Britian claims Western Australia a part of its empire.
1854- The U.S forces Japan to open its ports to international trade.
1861- Women gain the right to vote in Australia.
1876- Alexander Graham Bell invents the telephone.
1881-1898-Most of Africa comes under European rule.
1903- The Wright brothers make the first flight.
1914-1918- World War I
1928- The Mickey mouse cartoon film is made.
1929- A stock market slump causes a worldwide economic depression.
1941- The U.S enters World War II due to the attack on Pearl Harbor.
1945-World War ends.
1948- Communists take over Eastern European countries.
1957-Russia launches the first space satellite.
1969-Neil Armstrong lands on the moon
1999- The European Union introduces a single currency, the Euro.
