Post-Renaissance-East
vs. West
Learn
about differences between the east and west.
What
They Were Called
The
time just after the Renaissance, Eastern civilizations were
basically all of Asia, whereas all of Europe was considered
Western civilization. The governments of these places were
very different. Westerng governments tended to be monarchies
(like England) or democracies, compared to the empires (like
Japan) and dynsties (like China) of the eastern governments.
The social traditions, customs, and religions of these places
were also very different and distinct from each other. The
western religions were were mostly Christian religons and
churchgoers; the eastern religions were Hinduism, Buddhism,
Shinto, and Confucism.
The
economic systems at that time also were extremly different.
Western economics were more competitve and secretive. Eastern
governments were more laid back and cooperative. These governments
were very different and contrasting, but today each is not
as distinct as they used to be due to influence from the west,
and also the east.
