Florida-Geographic and Demographic Characteristics

Learn about Florida's geographic and demographic charicteristics.

Florida's Characteristics
Palm trees, sandy beaches, warm climate, and Mickey Mouse. What does this remind you of? Ahhh... yes... beautiful Florida.

These things aren't just there to make Florida a HUGE tourist attraction; they are all part of Florida's geography... well, exept for the Mickey Mouse.

Florida's Geography
Florida is practically all plains, but there is an area in the south called the Florida Everglades. In the north part of Florida, the land is mostly flat studded by lakes and sinkholes. Flat and wooded areas including coastal areas, make up the south.

Florida's Demography
Florida's people are also very interesting. Did you know that death by homicide for non-white males remians double that of all other populations groups combined? Or that heart disease accounts for one of every three deaths due in part to Florida's large elderly population? The Florida population has risen 9.4% since 1990 and more than doubled since 1970.
