Early Art and Architecture

Learn about different types of early art and architecture.

Art
There are many different types of art.
It's structure has changed throughout the years. But there are many arts that are still here and are very famous. For instance Christianity astronaut much information is found of art after the first two centuries Christ died. The earliest arts found are the early 3rd century paintings on the walls of the Catacombs in Rome. The subject matter is mainly consists of biblical figures.

Egyptian Pyramids
There were many significant achievement in are and architecture before the Renaissance. One of them was the Egyptian Pyramid. The pyramids were built as tombs for some of the Egyptian pharaohs and their families. Many would have complex passages, fake chambers, pathways, entrances, and exits, until you got to the real burial chamber. Inside the burial chamber would lay the mummy with his treasure. Sometimes there would be a fake burial chamber wigh cheap gold and other items that weren't worth as much as the ones in the real chamber. If a pharaoh wanted a pyramid for a tomb he would begin constructing it long before he was dead, with slaves carrying out the work.

Hanging Gardens of Babylon
Lying on the east bank of the Euphrates River is another wonderful achievement in art and architecture, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. Nebuchadnezzar II, a leader of Babylon, is said to have built them, but some people believe Senaherib, and earlier ruler, did. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon had plants cultivated above ground with trees that had roots in an upper terrace, according to an account that a person who saw it wrote long ago. Archeological findings show the Vaulted Building having think walls and an irrigation well near the southern palace. Still, not enough is known now to figure out how the gardens looked and exactly where they were.

Greek Columns
Greece had amazing architecture, filled with columns and other things to make it look fancier and also to make structures sturdier. There were three basic types of columns, Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian. The Doric style had a plain top but was very sturdy. The Ionic style is fancier with a scroll like top, and is thinner and more elegant. The Corinthian style was used more commonly in Rome then Greece, but still Greece used it, though rarely. The top was extremely elaborate, decorated with acanthus leaves. The Parthenon was a building in Greece built with Doric columns, The Temple of Athena Nike used Ionic columns, and The Temple of Zeus at Athens was made with Corinthian columns.

Art and Architecture
All over the world there is wonderful historic art and architecture. In Egypt there is pyramids, in England castles, all over the world there are tapestries. Pretty much everywhere you go has amazing art and architecture.
