Influencing Perceptions

Learn about influencing perceptions.

Influencing Things
Different things like culture and technology influence how people think of countries in a lot of ways. For instance, a lot of times cars are associated with Tokyo, Japan, tea is associated with London, England, and teepees are associated with American Indians.

Stereotypes
Even though those things might be true, they are also steriotypes. I'm sure not all people who live in England like tea, and not all American Indians lived in teepees. Instead they lived in all sorts of housed such as cabins or huts, although some did live in teepees.

Other Things Influenced
It is not just countries that culture and technology influence what people think about them. It might be a town, a city, or a region. Also there might be something other than cultural or technological geography that influences the way people think about that place. It might just be their plant or animal life. For instance when people think of the plains many think of buffalo, though not many are there anymore. All types of things can influence a person's perception of things.
