Processes of Thermal Energy

Learn about... thermal energy is what runs a microwave!

Heat Energy
Thermal energy is heat energy. That's why it starts at a higher temperature. It can just start in an oven. When it comes to thermal energy, it goes from a warm place to a cold place. If you think of different things in the world, there are many examples of this.

Hot to Cold
If you think of different things in the world, there are many examples of this. If you look at microwaves or ovens, you put cold things in not warm things. You can also look at how the sun works. The world would be pretty darn cold if the sun didn't help out. The sun's heat moves to cold places meaning the earth.

Sunshine State Standards 6-8

Science/Energy

Standard 1: The student recognizes that energy may be changed in form with varying efficiency (SC.B.1.3).

Objective 5: Knows the processes by which thermal energy tends to flow from a system of higher temperature to a system of lower temperature.

Amusement Park Activity

Do theme parks use solar energy- Go to an amusement park, and see if solar power has anything to do with the technology at the amusement park.
