Statisical Analysis

In these few pages you will learn about statisical analysis, which you either don't no much about or don't like learning about it, well in these pages we make it fun learning about it!

Explanation
Probability and statiscal analysis is simply finding statistics and knowing what the most probable thing will be.

Example
If there are 200 people in line at Disney and 5 are Blondes, what are the odds of picking a blonde out of the crowd?
2.5/100 or 2.5 out of 100

If Universal Studios was repairing it's rides after a hurricane, and fifty mechanics are working and twenty aren't, what are the statistics? 50 working/20 not working, 5/2.

Experiment
If there are 20 marbles in a jar, 7 are red, 5 are blue, 3 are green, 3 are purple, and 2 are black. What marble has the highest chance of someone choosing it?

Hypothesis
I hypothesize that I am most likely to choose the green one.

Statistics
7,5,3,3,2

Median: 3

Mean: 4

Mode: 3

Range: 5

Conclusion
3 were the median, 4 were the mean, 3 were the mode, 5 were the range and my hypothesis was correct I picked a red one.

Activity
Find the median, mean, mode, and range for
111245689
.

Sunshine State Standards 6-8

Math/Data Analysis and Probability

Standard 3: The student uses statistical methods to make inferences and valid arguments about real-world situations. (MA.E.3.3).

Objective 1 : Formulates hypotheses, designs experiments, collects and interprets data, and evaluates hypotheses by making inferences and drawing conclusions based on statistics (range, mean, media, and mode) and tables, graphs, and charts.

Amusement Park Activity

3 M's Escapade - Go to an amusement park and look at three roller coasters and find the mean, median, and mode of all three coasters.

Brainstorming Fun

Classrom Stats- Go around the
class and find the class statistics
of hair color, eye color, and pencil
color.

Vocabulary

Conclusion - The close or last
part.

Data - Factual information.

Evaluate - To examine and judge
carefully.

Experiment - A test under
controlled conditions that is made
to demonstrate a known truth.

Formulate - To express in
systematic terms or concept as a
formula.

Hypotheses - An assumption.

Inference - The process of
inferring logical conclusions.

Interpret - To conceive the
significance of.

Median - Located toward the
middle.

Mean - The average.

Mode - Item occurring most
frequently in a series of
observations.

Range - The difference between
the smallest and largest values in
a frequency distribution.

Statistic - A numerical datum.
