Cairo is the capital of Egypt. It is a large city with over sixteen million people. The city was built in 969 by the Fatimids, who conquered Egypt.

Cairo is known for its mosques. It also has the world’s first university, al-Azhar, which was founded in 970.

The golden mask of King Tut is on display at the Cairo Museum.
