Stephanie Kwolek was born in 1923 in Kensington, Pennsylvania. She lived the life of a bright child. In her childhood, Stephanie Kwolek was always interested in science and medicines. In 1842, she enrolled in the “Carnegie Institute of Technology”. She participated in chemistry and biology classes. She wanted to save up for graduate school so she got a job at Dupont Chemicals.
In 1964, she created a substance called “Kevlar”. She used Kevlar in radial tires, canoes, skis, sails, tennis rackets, cut resistant gloves and lots of other things. Later, she received a National Medal of Technology. In 1999, she won the Lemelson MIT Lifetime Achievement Award. Because of this invention, she has saved lives.
