Bill Watterson

Creator of "Calvin and Hobbes"

Bill Watterson was born on July 5th, 1958, in Washington DC. He has a younger brother. His father was an attorney and his mother served on the city council. His parents say that he was nothing like the 6 year old troublemaker, Calvin, in Bill's strip.

Now Bill lives with his wife, Mellisa, adopted kids, and cats, in Hudson, Ohio.

He went to Kenyon College. Then he worked at the Cincinnati Post as an editorial cartoonist for 6 months. He first did "Calvin and Hobbes" in 1985. In 1986, 1988, and 1992 he won the Rueben award for the National Cartoonists Society. He ceased publication for "Calvin and Hobbes" on January 1, 1996.
