Sun:

The god of Light

The Sun is the heart of our Solar System. The Sun consists of mainly two gases. They are Hydrogen and Helium. The parts of the Sun are: the Core, the Photosphere, the Chromosphere, and the Corona. The rotation rate is not the same for all of the sun. The gases inside the Sun move faster at the equator than the poles. The rotation rate ranges from 25 days at the equator to 35 days at the poles. Fusion occurs at the core. Fusion is the nuclear reaction in which hydrogen is changed to helium. The temperature of the Sun is 15,000,000 degrees Celsius (27,000,000 degrees Fahrenheit) at the core and 6,000 degrees Celsius (11,000 degrees Fahrenheit) at the surface. It has a diameter of 1,392,000 km (864,900 miles), which is 109 times the diameter of Earth. Three features of the Sun are Solar Flares, Sunspots, and Prominences. The Sun occasionally releases Solar Wind.
