Mercury:

Messenger of the gods

Mercury moves faster in its orbit than the other planets because it is the closest planet to the Sun. Since it is so closet to the Sun, astronomers cannot take clear photographs. Its surface is covered with craters because it has a thin atmosphere. Mercury's temperature ranges from 400 degrees Celsius (800 degrees Fahrenheit) during the day to -185 degrees Celsius (-300 degrees Fahrenheit) at night. Its rotation is about 59 Earth days, and its revolution is 88 Earth days. It has a diameter of 4,878 km, which equals 3,031 miles. It has no moons or rings.
