One may wonder what the events of September 11 and Holocaust have in common. They contrast so greatly, in so many ways. September 11 was only months ago, whereas Holocaust occured six decades ago. The way in which each were done also differs greatly. But there is one large comparison. The motive of those who killed the masses on both tragic occasions: hatred. Hatred connects the two events in a way nothing else does. The hatred of the terrorists for Americans caused them to give their own lives for the destruction of the hated. The Nazis had such a burning passion to wipe out the Jews, hatred blinded them to the inhumanity of the Holocaust. The two have little else in common, besides the masses that were killed at the hands of their haters. The only way to prevent further extreme acts of utter hatred is to lay hatred at rest once and for all. We must let love overtake the hatred in our hearts. As the Bible says, "Love your neighbor as yourself..." This could be all standing in the way of further holocaust or attacks.
