What is a NATIONAL PARK?
National Parks are usually the only
protected areas with their own management and its main task is the protection
of the entire area on its territory.
In order to proclaim an area a national
park several conditions should be taken into account.
- a large area of extraordinary
natural beauty
- the nature has to maintain its
original qualities, it should not be ruined or endangered by doings of
man
- multiple natural phenomena( phenomena
should not only be geomorphologic or solely botanical - otherwise they
are measured by other standards of protection)
According to international standards
an area at least 20 square kilometers in size is required, out of which
10 square kilometers of nature should be completely preserved and protected.
Isolated islands are exempt from this rule. This criterion is necessary
since it is hardly possible or sometimes impossible to preserve the authenticity
of the ecosystem in small areas, especially in a biological way.
