The Pöhaku Naha (Naha Stone) is located in the city of Hilo, in front of the local library. It weighs in at nearly 500 pounds. Legends said that the one who could lift the stone would unite the islands of Hawaii. The stone belonged to a group called the "Naha Cast" which believed only the ali'i of the Naha Cast could lift the stone. King Kamehameha proved them wrong when he not only moved the stone but flipped it completely over when he was only 14 years old! In 1810 Kamehameha united the islands just like the prophecy foretold he would.
