Paiea lived in waipio valley for 5 years. When the threat on paiea’s life passed he was returned to his parents. From there he was taken to kailua and presented before elderly king alapai and renamed Kamehameha. “Kamehameha” means the lonely one because in the days of his childhood he didn't hang out with other children. After being renamed he was taken to ail’i training for the next seven years. After Kamehameha’s father died, when he was 14, king kalaniopuu adopted Kamehameha. Kamehameha was then taken to Kau, the warrior training grounds. Here he learned spear throwing, wrestling, battle tactics, sex, and spear dodging. He gained knowledge of navigation, history, astronomy, religious ceremonies, prayers, Kapu, and his complete genealogy dating back to the gods.
