The Greek restaurants are one of the most traditional restaurants in Cape Town.  Everything from their menus to their decor is 100% traditionally Greek.  They are usually family run businesses.

Some of the dishes that the Greek are famous for are: the traditional Greek salad, pita bread, olives, moussaka, baklava, keftedes, youvetsi, tarama, scordalia, tyro pita and taranaki, just to name a few.

A few drinks that the Greek enjoy with their meals are: Uszo, Merlot and Shiraz.  Most red wines are suitable for Greek dining.

The atmosphere in Greek restaurants is cozy and festive, with wooden tables covered with checked tablecloths.  The walls are usually decorated with large paintings of famous Greek ships and streets, etc.  Some Greek restaurants have traditional Greek dancing and plate breaking. (plate breaking is not actually a Greek tradition.)
