| How?
Maintain with the hand on the
forehead(front) the head tipped over behind. Open so necessary mouth by
pulling(firing) the chin upward. Look in the mouth and remove from it
possible foreign body (food, toy, tooth...). Be careful not to push them farther. For liquids, use a handkerchief or a
piece of tissue surrounded around two fingers.
In every case, act very quickly. |
Why?
To open by pressing on the chin
blocks air traffics, it is necessary on the contrary to fire.
To allow the air(sight) to cross(spend) and to avoid a ventilatoire distress. |
Lateral position of saftey (security)(PLS)![]()
| When?
In the presence of a victim who does not bleed, unconscious and who ventilates. |

| How?
The rescuer takes place in knees at
the level of the chest of the victim, in sufficient(self-important) distance not to have
to move back during the reversal. It(he) seizes the wrist from his
part and places the arm slightly beyond the perpendicular, the back of the hand against
the ground. It(he) seizes the opposite shoulder
and places the forearm of the victim on its(his) forearm. It(he) seizes the opposite hip. It(he) makes revolve slowly the
victim altogether and without twisting, by keeping(guarding) tense arms. It(he) rests(bases) the front arm
situated upward. The elbow bent by the victim should be on the ground. It(he) places the hand which held
the shoulder at the level of the hip. It(he) seizes with the other hand
the hollow of the knee and bends the thigh so that this knee rests(bases) on the ground. It(he) makes(does) the tour of the
victim to take place in the head, and returns the head towards the back (a hand on the
forehead(front), the other one on the chin).
If need be it(he) opens the mouth of the victim by firing at the chin. The mouth should be steered towards the ground. |
Why?
To realize the PLS smoothly which
could deteriorate(aggravate) the hurts of the victim. The position beyond the
perpendicualire avoids the stop(ruling) of the traffic in the arm after the reversal. To maintain the shoulder of the
victim. To maintain the hip. Correctly made, this technique
avoids deteriorating(aggravating) a hurt of the back. The elbow in abutment will be the
first support of the victim. To continue to maintain the hip. The knee in abutment is the second
support. To free(release) in a permanent way
the air traffics of the victim and so allow the passage of the air(sight) towards lungs.
To allow the drainage of liquids towards the ground, what avoids their inhalation, what could provoke a stop(ruling) ventilatoire. |
