Hygiene in food and drink

The food and drink we eat become harmful
to health if they are contaminated by

* Bacteria found on raw food  - usually destroyed in
cooking or removed in the preparation (e.g. washing
salad vegetables).
* Bacteria carried by people  - spread when someone
sneezes over the food, hands are not washed (e.g. after using
the toilet), glasses, china and cutlery inadequately washed
between use.

* bacteria found in dust and dirt -they live on, and  get
   spread by, flies, ants, spiders, mice, rats, birds and other
   pests.

* dirt, dust, pieces of broken glass or china or any
   other non-food object - spread to the food from
   dirty surface and equipment, or as a result of breakage's

* Cleaning substances or agent and other harmful chemicals
   mistaken for food   or come into contact with food
   (e.g. because instructions for use have not been followed ).

    Most people carry Staphylococcus aureus bacteria in their
  nose and mouth. Each time the nose or mouth is touched, or
  someone sneezes, bacteria are transferred to glasses, drinks,
  food, etc. People must learn to do the correct thing's to prevent
  the food and also their health
