The suborder Stegosauria includes a selection of medium- and large-sized plant-eating dinosaurs. They all had an armor of spikes or plates, or both, along the middle of the back. Some also had spikes on their hips. There were two groups: early scelidosaurids (which could be stegosaurs or ankylosaurs) and the later stegosaurids.
