LOGGING

A major cause of deforestation in our world is the logging industry. Major logging industries can often be held responsihble for the destruction of great forests such as the Amazon. The loggers, work on a supply and demand basis, whereby they produce a lot of expensive wooden furniture and accessories, because we the public continue to but it, without giving any thought to the environment.

Another problem caused by loggers is the destruction of forest homes of native people to that area. In the Amazon, there are regular raids on native inhabitants, trying to drive them further into the forest so that the wood can be cut and transported to foreign countries in the form of furniture and such like.

Logging is also destroying the habitats of animals. At the tremendous rate at which the forest is cut, many animals are caught in the way and are killed by trucks, falling trees and other accidents that take place. Plants species are also being destroyed at a tremendous rate. In the Amazon there are thought to be many hundreds of undiscovered plants, possibly possesing the power to heal common day illnesses.
