ABOUT
Lawrence Haw
Role: HTML Expert as well as responsible for content of Water and Air Sections
I am in grade 9 (std 7) at Selborne College, East London, South Africa. I started learning HTML about 6 months ago, I was experimenting with some programmes that showed you the HTML behind what you were doing. Later I decided to enter the Thinkquest Competetion which I had heard about from friends. I also met Roger about 6 months ago when my family moved to East London from Cape Town. I asked him if he wanted to join a team with me and he agreed. I later spoke to Mr Blundell the computer teacher at school if he would agree to coach us. He did and we created this site for you to enjoy.
I frequently help out with the computers at school which seem to work for a maximum of 10 minutes without anything going wrong. I also have built many computer of my own and for others, I now have a total of five websites under my belt, inculding those done on Microsoft Frontpage.
Awards
I have very few awards in the computer world, apart from best technision as Primary school.
I am also a Boy Scout in South Africa, and have won a few awards including Best Junior scout and most improved senior scout.
Roger Curran
Role: Graphics designer, responsible for Land and Space sections
I am also in Gr. 9 at Selborne College. I met Lawrie at the beggining of the year when he moved
down from Cape Town. We became friends and he began to teach me HTML. He then suggested that we
enter Thinkquest. I agreed and we began work. I am new to HTML but have learnt a lot lately and
am catching up fast. I have learnt so much from this web site through my share of the research,
and it has been a real eye-opener. I have thouroughly enjoyed the challenge.
I do rowing at school and really enjoy it, I also take part in hockey and enjoy the team work
of both sports. My other interests are working on the computer, I like music and surfing
the internet. I prefer hanging around with friends to staying at home and am involved with
my local youth group.
Morgan Blundell
Role: Coach
This is the first opportunity I have of working as a team coach on a ThinkQuest project. The team applied themselves strenously to learning as many of the skills it takes to develop a web page as possible, and in the short time they had available, did a tremendous job. In the process, they managed to teach me a lot too! One reason that I am a teacher is that I get to learn all the time; I consider this one of the perks of the job. The team's dedication to meet ThinkQuest objectives and create something significant has done me proud! I will certainly be a team leader again when the opportunity arises.
