CONSONANTS :

Consonants are speech – sounds in the production of which there is some obstruction , produced by some vocal organs.

VOWELS :
A vowel is a speech sound in the production of which there is no obstruction any where caused by any of the organs.
The vowels a ,e ,i ,o .u actually stand for as many as 21 vowels sound- 12 of them are known as pure vowels and 9 dipthongs .
