THE SPENSERIAN SONNET :
The Spenserian sonnet so named after Edmund Spenser has three quatrains and a
couplet .
The three – quatrain pattern was Spenser’s innovation , the rhyme scheme is
-ab, ab, bc, bc, cd, cd , ee
The rhyme “b” links the first and the second quatrains , the rhyme “c” links the
second and third quatrains . This arrangements of the rhyme has given it the name.
