The Neo- Classical Age: (1660-1780)

From Dryden’s maturity to Dr Johnson’s death. (1660-1780) (also called Classical /Augustan Age - the Age of Reason and good sense )

Special features: Dignified language for poetry, man as the theme of poetry, observance of poetic justice – i.e. virtue rewarded and vice punished , preservation of order, balance , harmony and correctness.

Notable Writers : John Dryden, Alexander Pope ,Johnson, Goldsmith.
