Fran Bošnjaković was born on 12 Jnauary 1902
in Zagreb, Croatia. He studied in Zagreb and later in Dresden,
Germany, where he graduated in 1925 as a mechanical engineer.
In 1926 and 1927 he worked as a teaching assistant at the Laboratory
for Mechanics of Technical School at Zagreb University. From 1928
till 1933 he was a research assistant at the Laboratory for Mechanics
at Dresden High Mechanical Engineering School, where he was given
a doctoral degree in 1928, while in 1931 he became a university
teacher. In 1933 he taught thermodynamics at Technical School
at the University of Belgrade and in 1936 he transferd to Technical
school at Zagreb University, where he became a professor a year
later. In 1961 he was invited to establish the Institute for Thermodynamics
at the University of Stuttgart, Germany. The personal and scientific
interest of prof. Bošnjaković cover the complete range of thermodynamics,
out of which his work on exothermics, the exchange of heat and
matter, evaporation and gas plazma should be especially noted.
