Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

The purpose of CPR is to ensure oxygenated blood is circulated to the brain and other vital organs. It is important that the casualty receives prompt medical attention, by individuals who have access to devices such as a defibrillator

Procedure

Bulletmove the casualty to a flat surface
Bulletplace your fingers mid-chest near where the ribs meet
Bulletplace the palm of your other hand on the breastbone above your fingers
Bulletnow press down on the chest to about 5cm/ 2inches and release
Bulletgive 15 compressions
Bulletnow give the casualty two breaths
Bulletgive 15 more compressions and two breaths, three times
Bulletcheck to see if the casualty has a pulse or is breathing
Bulletif not continue CPR until a pulse returns or medical help continues

The above method of CPR is meant for a casualty 8 years old and older. Please attend a CPR course to learn how to treat younger casualties.
