Ming Emperor Jingtai (Zhu Qiyu)
Emperor Jingtai was Emperor Xuande's second son, Emperor Zhengtong's younger brother. He was born in 3rd year of Emperor Xuande's reign (1428 AD), and died in 1457.
During Emperor Zhengtong's captivity in Mongolia, Zhu Qiyu handled routine affairs. Later, he became an emperor formally. A short time later, Emperor Zhengtong came back. He didn't want to give place to Emperor Zhengtong, so he put Emperor Zhengtong under house arrest. Several years later, Emperor Zhengtong recaptured his imperial throne when was badly ill, and then Emperor Jingtai was put under house arrest. Last, Emperor gave him a long piece of calico, it meaned that Emperor Zhengtong wanted him to hang himself.
