Qing Emperor Guangxu (Aixinjueluo Zaitian)
Emperor is Emperor Tongzhi's younger cousin. He was born in 10th year of Emperor Tongzhi's reign (1871 AD), and died in 34th year of his reign (1908 AD).
Because Emperor Tongzhi had no son, his brother should succeed the throne, but he was singleton, so his nephew should succeed the throne. But if his nephew succeeded the throne, Emperor Dowager Cixi could not handle state affairs ("Chui Lian Ting Zhengˇ±) any longer. So Empress Dowager Cixi insisted on making Emperor Tongzhi's cousin Zaitian the new emperor in order that she could go on handling state affairs.
Emperor Guangxu succeeded imperial throne in age of 5. Empress Dowager Cixi handled state affairs for a long time. After Emperor Guangxu's marriage, Cixi was moved to the Summer Palace, but she still handled power over major issues. Emperor Guangxu still had no real power.
In 24th year of Emperor Guangxu's reign, he declared that he would reform in ruling the country in order to redeem declining tendency of the country. Because the innovation had touched Cixi's power, Cixi was furthest against his reform. Emperor Guangxu wanted to bereave Cixi's power and he plotted mutiny. But his minister Yuan Shikai told his plan to Cixi. Cixi immured him in Zhong Nan Hai (a place near the Forbidden City), and ruled the country herself. Because the reform lasted 103 days, so it's called hundred-day reform.
10 years later, Emperor died in Zhong Nan Hai mopishly. And Cixi was dead the day after Emperor Guangxu's death.
