Emperor Chongzhen (Zhu Youjian)
Emperor Chongzhen is Emperor Taichang's fifth son, he was born in 38th year of Emperor Wanli's reign (1610 AD), died in 17th year of his reign (1644 AD).
When he succeeded imperial throne, Ming Dynasty was at the edge of perdition: uprisings of peasants broke out; force of Manchu in northeast China was stronger and stronger. The Ming government was under converging attack. He knew the abuse of the government. He executed eunuch Wei Zhongxian, did his best to administrate the country. But Ming Dynasty was too weak and he had no chance to eave the situation.
In 17th year of his reign, Li Zicheng (the leader of the peasants)'s army attacked Beijing. Later, the city was occupied. Emperor Chongzhen knew that the end of Ming Dynasty had come. He came to Jingshan Mountain which was at back of the Forbidden City with a eunuch, hanged himself on a tree. Ming Dynasty, which lasted more than 200 years, ended in this way.
