History remained obscure before the formation of languages and characters. People got to know what happened long, long ago by legends which often started with "Once upon a time..." It was Characters that helped people to record the history events accurately and concretely. Then the influence of civilization became greater than ever.
In ancient China, the Han civilization is the most wide-broadcasted one. More than 6,000 years ago, people who lived in the Yangtze River and the Yellow River basin started making stone utensils for hunting and living. Shortly afterwards, the Han characters---today we say Chinese characters---came out. Since then, these characters have gradually grown to a big, colourful system of scripts, and have played an important role in the development of Chinese culture, economy and politics. Besides, these characters also spread out of China to countries nearby, such as Korea, Japan and Viet Nam. All these countries had used Chinese to record their history.
Detailed description about the evolution of Chinese characters will be shown here. We can feel the beats of history throughout these words.
