Many of the Great Events we are talking about are sport related. There is the Durban July which is an annual horse-racing event, then there's the Comrades, a 90km run from Pietermaritzberg to Durban, there's the Mr. Price Pro's an international surfing competition held during the July holidays. As well as the annual Duzi Kayaking race from the Umsumdusi in Pietermaritzburg to the Umgeni in Durban.

Durban is home to the Sharks Rugby Team and they play every-so-often at the Absa Stadium. It is also an action-packed evening out.
