Eurasian Funeral - Pre Burial
For
Eurasians,
un-
like
most
other
Asian
ethnic
groups
in
Singapore,
the
men-
tion
of
death
is
not
taboo.
Many
actually
pray
for
a
holy
and
peaceful
death.
This
desire
is
firmly
entrenched
in
the
Catholic
belief
that
a
person
who
dies
aft-
er
he
has
received
the
religious
sacra-
ment
of
Extreme
Unction
(Called
home
to
God)
and
has
made
his
last
con-
fession
to
a
priest,
dies happily.
Many
family
members
will
tell
you,
with
a
certain
measure
of
relief,
that
the
de-
ceased
looks
"so
serene",
"so
natu-
ral"
and
even
"has
a
smile"
while
he
lies
in
his
coffin.
The
more
cynical
might
attribute
all
this
to
good
cosmetic
skills,
but
many
find
some
consolation
in
the
fact
that
"Grandma
looked
as
if
she
were
only sleeping".
