     We have done it! While many ancient civilizations have failed, we have succeeded in developing the calendar. It is based on the velocity of the sun and moon. Now by noting when the new crescent moon first becomes visible, we can define the beginning of a periodic cycle within a deviation of just a few minutes. Oh, I must now go and collect some information on the sun's velocity and the latitude of the moon. I mustn't be late. This data will also be important in predicting the next solar and lunar eclipses. Thales of Miletus had showed how useful that could be when he predicted a solar eclipse and frightened the skins off those Medians and Lydians.
