Dear Journal,
A Minotaur, maze, a brilliant craftsman, and his fatally daring son are part of Daedalus and Icarus, a tale written partly due to a deep desire.
The story takes place on the island of Crete where King Minos hires Daedalus to build him a labyrinth to trap the Minotaur. The half-man half-bull creature is killed by Theseus, with the help of Ariadane, daughter of Minos, who gives him a thread to escape the labyrinth. Ariadne then elopes with Theseus with the help of Daedalus. As a result, King Minos imprisons Daedalus and his son Icarus in the labyrinth.
The best part of the story then starts. Daedalus then says, "Minos may control the land and sea…but not the regions of the air. I will try that way." He ingeniously decides to fly hundreds of miles away to Sicily, over the vast ocean and through the open sky.
Flapping his newly made wings, Daedalus showed his son how to and they rose together towards the west. Icarus however, in an understable attempt to reaching Heaven, rose higher and higher until the wax that held his wings together melted and he fell to his death.
The desire is to fly. Daedalus flew to freedom and Icarus may have flown to heaven.
