Dear Journal,
Since my yearning quite a while ago to write an adventure in a place that was more distant than the Mediterranean sea, I have been completing the work True History which takes place on the moon. For those who are not well learned, the moon is not a chariot traveling by night!
There are two stories in True History. One is about a hero, Icaromenippus, who like me, longs to know more about the moon and sun. He travels to the moon using an eagle and vulture wing and then looks back at Earth, surprised by its smallness. However, Icaromenippus, being human, is not satisfied and continues to fly and reaches Heaven. His arrival offends the immortals and he is stripped of his wings.
The other story is about a group of athletes whose ship is blown and lifted by a gigantic whirlwind that carries them to the moon. There they find a war of great proportions involving spiders the size of islands, enormous ants, sixty million men, thirty thousand flea riders, and other strange groups of beings.
I know my stories are peculiar to those who are sincere believers of Aristotle, who erroneously said that all matter is on Earth and therefore there cannot be a plurality of worlds. As a result, many believe in only one world and that is the world they unexcitingly dwell on. I hope those misinformed believers can comprehend my stories though I doubt it being the little Aristotle's they are.
