ROBOTS IN THE MEDIA
To many people, the thought of a robot makes one think of walking, talking metal humanoids. When one learns
about the reality of robots, the way they are mainly used in industries and resemble a box with an arm, one will
sometimes be disappointed. The reason for this is that since the early twentieth century we have been bombarded with
science fiction plays, books, movies and TV shows that show these fictitious robots. Not to say that that's a bad
thing. After all, science fiction is wonderfully imaginative and thoughtful. One must just be able to distinguish
between the two worlds of robots.
From the 1920s to roughly the 1950s robots had been portrayed as evil entities with a few acceptions. There was much in
various media about robots attempting to take over the human race (take a look at "R.U.R." or "Phantom Empire"
for example). Later on, robots took on a more diverse role in the media, ceasing to be merely frightful machines.
Robots became helpful and friendly devices such as in "The Jetsons" and "Star Wars".
Indeed, robots certainly have a large role in our culture. To learn more about robots in TV and movies, visit our

but with time A.I. will advance to higher levels of intelligence.
