LABORATORY ROBOTS
One of the many categories of robots are laboratory robots, which includes advanced microcomputers with
multi-jointed arms and sophisticated vision and tactile sensors. These robots are used for their
exceptional hand-eye coordination to measure exact quantities of chemicals to one thousands of a
millilitre. These robots are an essential component to present day experiments because of the need for extreme
accuracy. No human could possible measure out exactly 1.001
millilitres of a substance, however, for a robot, it's
an everyday task. The need for presision in scientific experimentation has created an entire new field for
robotics and it is expanding rapidly. Scientists can now spend their time on areas that are far more important
instead of spending hours trying to measure out the exact quantities of reactants. Even if scientists did spend
hours measuring out quantities, a robot could perform the same task in a tenth of the time and it would even
be far more accurate! For this main reason, robots are now entrusted to carry out these precision tasks which are
later used to perform complex research experiments to advance and aid our society.
