THE INCA TRAIL

 
The Inca trail is prespanish trail used by the incas. Now it is used as a turist attractions in the andes part of Peru.The Inca Trail goes from the Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu, covering 33 km of different microclimates, breathtaking views and fascinating ruins.  The distance seems short, but the trail goes over three mountain passes.  It is possible to complete the trek in 3 days, but it’s much more comfortable to do in 4 days.  You can hire guides in Cuzco or Lima, as well as through international tour operators.  Prices begin at about $60 per person.  The trail fee is $17, including the $10 for Machu Picchu.  Check with your tour operator to see if this fee is included.  The South American Explorers’ Club (website and on-line catalog: www.samexplo.org ) has collected the wisdom and experience of all its members  and offers information and trip planning advice for this and other adventures.If you don’t have the time or energy necessary to complete the whole trail, there are two-day and one-day options. The four-day trip starts at Kilometer 88 on the railway route from Cuzco, while the two-day option begins farther along the Vilcanota Valley.  The one-day option starts from Kilometer 104 on the railway route from Cuzco.  The trail fee is $12.
