Cape Point and Cape Peninsula National Park

Aah, look at the monkey!!

Visitors to the national park can hope to see cape mountain zebra, baboons, and many more cool animals.  The trip up to the promontory at Cape Point leads to a stunning prospect over the False Bay coast and back towards Cape Town.  The park has many seaside picnic spots and offers boating and many more activities.  Cape Point also has a restaurant and a shop.

Camps Bay beach is a very beautiful beach with its white sand and giant granite boulders. The water is usually nice and cold, it’s a good place to go and surf.  If you go up close to have a look at the granite boulders you will see because of the weathering that has taken place how the boulders have been pitted and fluted.  Pitting is when the wind blows directly at the boulder and causes golf ball size holes in the boulder.  Fluting is when the wind blows and hits the sides of the boulders and causes gorged out flute like pipes.

The water's so blue...

A drive around Cape Point is a very nice and relaxing drive. It might seem long, but it is very beautiful.  The wind speed is normally very high, therefore the gate to the point is sometimes closed if the wind is too strong.
