Difference
in age
At
7 years old you love school and you can’t wait to
get up in the mornings to go to school. A regular
seven year old will tell you this when you ask them
their opinion of school, “I love school and all my
teachers and all my friends and I can write my own
name and, and, and, and...”
At 17 you hate it you can’t wait to leave school.
You have “better” things to do. You try your
best to be “sick” at home or in the boarding
hostel. You attempt to bunk classes but you hate of
not getting caught just to get away from a teacher
that has been bugging you for ages. If you get
caught it makes a good plan turn worse. You are
quick to imagine up another one of those lame
excuses that make teachers say, “I’m not as
stupid as you think!” Regardless of how perfect
your fib sounded they still send you to detention. Morning
Wake-up
Don’t you just dread the 6 o’clock wake up call?
My roommate wakes me up every morning and I hate her
for it! My first words in the morning are, “not
another day of SCHOOL!” Just to make it worse your
subconscious tells you to stop being negative and
get out of bed. Well it’s easier said than done. I
prefer to stay up late at night and be in bed half
the day. That’s just how I am but I love it.
School swaps my natural habits upside down
and expects me to like them. I don’t but there’s
nothing you can do about it! It’s only for a few
years of your life then you’re let free in the big
bad world to do as you please. Learning
Hey wait a minute, what about the learning. I know
some of the stuff we learn in school seems pretty
useless but you never know when we might need it. We
might not be able to follow our preferred carrier
choice and have to opt for something else, but if
you don’t know a thing about another field how
will you survive? Besides no one has ever died from
learning, not that I know of anyways! I personally
think we are young and should have inquisitive
minds. Lets leave the exploration for another stage
in our lives when we can fully enjoy it.
You know how a 4 year old asks you why, you answer
and they ask why again and again and again? Well I
sometimes get like that and all my friends think
I’m mad. I do this because I have adopted a new
way of thinking. I’m thinking about my future and
I want to know as much as possible so as not too
shock my system when I pop out of school. I feel if
you don’t ask you’ll never know!
Now the homework situation.
I know, I know, nobody likes it. Not even I
like this horrific thing that teachers invented.
They make us work in class throughout the whole
morning and most of the afternoon and then expect us
to work some more at home. Isn’t it just a shame?
I can basically find three types of teachers that
give out homework. The first are the ones that are
blind and cannot see that us, teenagers have enough
on our plates. They dish out tons upon tons of
homework and expect it to be done within a short
space of time. There is absolutely nothing that can
be done about these teachers. The next type of
teacher falls in the middle of the three types. They
are the kind of person who is kind and prefers not
to give us too much but other teachers and parents,
which are into the idea that we do not have enough
work, heavily influence them. So they will hand out
very little but every now and then will drop an
ocean of work down on you. The last type of teacher
is the one that is extremely kind (in our eyes) and
take the teenagers point of view into consideration.
They hand out only as much as is required, which is
very little in their case. Now after mentioning all
these types of teachers, trust me that there is not
much that you can do to change them. Sure
complaining to the principle or other teachers might
help a bit since teachers do talk. And then
there’s the complaining parent issue, which also
might put conditions in your favor but remember that
all teachers are different. They each have their own
unique style of teaching and this is extremely hard
to break. My advice to you is to just accept what
you get given and make the best of it. Keep in mind
that complaining doesn’t always help! So by keeping these guidelines in mind and going out with a positive attitude, you can achieve a vast amount more than others. I know you have heard this expression hundreds of times but I’ll say it again, the sky’s the limit! Cat
