- When ready to take
your position on the firing line be sure to
straddle the line so that you and all shooters
are standing in one straight line.
- Do not nock your
first arrow until the signal is given (usually a
whistle blast).
- Always be sure to
keep any type of knocked arrow pointing down the
range at the target at all times.
- Never nock your
arrow anywhere but at the nock locator.
- When shooting on
your own, be sure to check to see if it is clear
at least 40 yards behind and 20 yards to each
side of the target before each shot.
- If your arrow falls
off of your arrow rest, restart your shot, rather
than attempting to replace the arrow at full
draw.
- Learn to shoot
without using your index finger to hold your
arrow on the arrow rest. Failure to do so could
result in you puncturing or scratching your
finger.
- Safety - If any of
your equipment falls on the other side of the
firing line never cross the line to get it,
instead use your bow or an arrow to rake it
toward you.
- Immediately stop
shooting when you hear someone calls a
cease-fire.
- Never shoot your
arrows anywhere but at the target.
