ou’ve traveled around the world and you’ve just come back home from a trip to Britain, or France, or Austria. A lover of Nature, it’s no wonder that you are still under the strong impression of the parks and gardens you’ve visited.

Many people would love to create their own little masterpieces in their yards and bring wild nature within reach. Those will surely be masterpieces, for no matter how much time, effort, or money one puts into creating their own garden, that garden will be the epitome of one’s unique vision of beauty and harmony.

For some people a garden is a place where you throw parties among flower beds and fruit trees in blossom, others consider it a place for lounging and drowsing on the small wooden bench, lulled by the humming of bees, still others like watching their children play on the lawn they have grown and looked after. There must be something deeply implanted in the human soul that makes us contemplate the flowers we have planted in that ordinary clay pot, or spend hours constructing the small pond in the middle of the lawn.

Creating one’s own garden does not seem to be an easy task. But why should it be?

Obviously, it will need setting realistic goals and careful planning that covers as many details as possible. Among the basic ones are what plants to grow, what tools to buy, how much time and effort to put into that, how to reduce costs, and so on.

The authors of this web page believe that there can’t be a comprehensive manual covering every single aspect of gardening. What follows is just an attempt to touch upon some basics of gardening as a hobby.
