Lisboa Castero Sao Jorge
Phoenicians built a town and its fort in Lisbon around 1200 BC, making it the center of colonization. In the 8th century a Muslim's fort was added to it. In 1147 Alfonso Henry conquered Lisbon, Muslim's headquarters, and put under ccontrol the town and the fort. After that, this castle was strengthened further. When Lisbon was designated the capital in 1256, the role of a castle became much more important. The ramparts and the tower are preserved in good shape. The castle shows us what battles were like in those days.
