HILTON

My name is Marc and I am presently at Hilton College, in Grade 9. I enjoy meeting new people and just socializing with my friends. I am not at all a sports fanatic and always have an excuse to not watch school rugby. I do however enjoy swimming and rowing. I love to spend money at any shopping centre and I love movies. I thought that a web page on the story of the Umgeni River would be interesting and interactive. Our story and studies can hopefully be put to good use by those who visit our page.

The River in my Life

At Hilton College boys use the river in many ways, whether for recreational purposes or by simply drinking the water from our taps. The water is therefore constantly monitored which is why it is so fascinating. Between the Biology and Geography departments, the river is often put to educational use during the school day. The Wildlife Society takes boys down to see game, birds and beautiful flora nearly everyday. They identify the many different species and records are kept of the birds by boys and staff. We are blessed with wonderful wildlife. Hilton boys naturally have access to the Estate and often make use of the grounds on Sundays for swimming, tubing, fishing, bird watching and exploring. Each Sunday boys go down on to the estate and picnic near the river. All boys get the opportunity of a lift down to the river where tubes are brought down for our entertainment.
