Engrave the seal. Keep the seal stone on the level with a seal vise, and start to carve the seal. While doing intaglio, cut the characters on the right side and incline the blade to the right. Then, carve the letters themselves out. Chop the stone and lift the knife; then reverse the stone and chop again with the same procedures. That is called double-cut method. While doing relief, chisel the character on the left, but incline the blade to the right. Then carve the other part of the seal out so that the letters themselves will stand up from the seal face.
