Habitat:
The yellow-tailed woolly monkey occurs in humid and very humid forests from 1700 - 2700 m (5600 - 8900'). Steep gorges and ravines are characteristic features of its habitat.

Possibly only 1 birth/year per 6 adults (Luna 1980). 

Diet:
The yellow-tailed woolly monkey eats mainly fruit and flowers. Roots are sometimes also eaten. 

Behavior:
The yellow-tailed woolly monkey is arboreal and diurnal. 

Social Organization:
Group size of the yellow-tailed woolly monkey ranges from 4 - 35, with an average of 13. It appears that 1 male is dominant.
