Preuss´s Monkey


Weight:
Preuss's monkey weighs up to 10 kg (22 lb). 

Habitat:
Preuss's monkey is most common in montane forest up to 2500 m (8200') and rare in lowland forest. 

Age to Maturity:
4 years. 

Birth Rate:
Birth rate: 0.33 offspring/year (Fa et al. 1995).
Number of female offspring/mother/year: 0.17 (Slade et al. 1998). 

Maximum Age:
31 years. 

Diet:
The diet of the Preuss's monkey consists of fruit, leaves and insects. 

Behavior:
Preuss' monkey is terrestrial. 

Social Organization:
Preuss's monkey is found in troops averaging 17 individuals, including one adult male. 

Mortality/Survival:
Observed average probability of a Preuss's monkey surviving any one year during the period from the age of first reproduction to the end of reproduction is 0.86 (Slade et al. 1998). 

Density/Range:
Observed density: 9.9/sq km (26/sq mi) (Fa et al. 1995).
